Almost every chapter from the past was just her meeting Luc and him wanting her to surrender or just buttering her up. However, since each chapter switches the centuries, from present to past, I found myself not wanting to read her stories from the past as they were sorta irrelevant imo. I went into this book blind and only saw everyone raving about it, I knew little to nothing about the book besides the blurb that's within the book jacket. But at the same time, feeling unbound, untethered to anyone or anywhere, feeling like you're walking in other people's steps, unable to leave a mark of your own upon this world, feeling alone as you drift through life. To me, the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue reflects on the desires of every human who have lived, lives, and will live - For freedom, for art, for knowledge, for love, for a life that is worthy of remembrance. Although the execution in the book was not perfect, I love the thoughts it provoked. Schwab's older works it's clear that she has been developing the themes in this book as her career has progressed.
